Christmas 2020
Dec 22, 2020
A Poem for the times
The veil became thin
As the melody touched my soul
A time of joy filled with such sorrow
No time for shields or fences
To deflect the pain of others
The world rejoices with hope
For a better tomorrow
As tears fill the emptiness
Left by those who were taken
By the smallest of thieves
Darkness creeps inside our minds
Hatred fills the silence
Between each peal of the church bell
Ringing in the birth of hope and peace
For an undeserving world touched by grace
The spaces left behind
Have left room for light to shine
Through our deepest darkest sorrow
Perhaps we can see the divine
For the veil is thin this Christmas
